Profile Of The Movie Industry's Biggest Threat
from the ooooh,-scary dept
The Washington Post has an article about some guy who downloads movies from the internet, and intersperses their description of what he does with the accusations from Jack Valenti that this guy is killing the movie industry. However, from the description, you could argue that the guy is actually helping the movie industry. Even he claims that it hasn’t changed his movie viewing habits. He downloads movies as a way of determining whether or not to get the DVD. He still goes out to see movies on the big screen and sees the downloaded versions as ways to tide himself over until the DVD comes out. Meanwhile, Valenti calls this guy (who is clearly a huge movie fan and spends a lot of money on movies) “a terrible threat” to the movie industry. I’m beginning to wonder if, perhaps, Jack Valenti isn’t the biggest threat to the movie industry…
