Siemens Bets on Mobile Gambling

Siemens is partnering with a startup firm to offer mobile betting. The idea is that people can place bets even while a sporting event is ongoing using their mobile phones. They just need to call a specific number, and a text message is sent to the phone telling the person the odds and confirming the amount. If the person says yes, then the bet is placed. Apparently, it was tested with great success during the WorldCup. Obviously, in game betting requires changing odds, and the system does this by watching the type of betting going on – and without knowing exactly what’s happened in the sporting event. As such, it sounds like it would be possible to game the system somehow, if you could make sure that you were one of the first to place a bet after an event (such as a goal) happened.
