The End Of The Teenage Guru
from the techies-grow-up dept
Just about everyone has heard people talk about how teenagers often know more about computers than their parents, but it seems that gap may be closing (NY Times – random registration required). Part of it is simply that younger parents of today are computer literate themselves – having grown up with computers. There’s also a clearer definition of tech roles within the household. The fun “exploring” stuff is done by kids, who find new features and demand more advanced hardware. The tedious labor part goes to the parents, who have to set up the network and fix the printer when it breaks down.
