Both Sides Appealing Webcaster Royalty Ruling

It’s no secret that both the RIAA and online webcasters are not at all happy with the official royalty rates set for webcasting. The webcasters believe they’re too high and will drive most of them out of business. The RIAA believes they’re too low (of course). So, it’s no surprise that both sides are appealing the decision. It seems unlikely that either side will be happy with any decision. Of course, if the RIAA ever woke up from their greed-induced coma from reality, maybe they would realize that webcasters help to promote the business of their members – making them more money. But, that seems too complicated for the RIAA folks.
