Face Recogniton… Still Doesn't Work

from the waste-of-time-and-money dept

So, here’s the latest in a series of studies saying that face recognition doesn’t work. Every study that looks at the stuff says the same thing. Either you get a ton of false positives that make the real matches virtually hidden, or you set the criteria so tightly that anyone with a hat or sunglasses can get past the system. This seems like a huge waste of time and money. Worse, it’s giving people a false sense of security. It’s a bit scary how many of our “security” plans these days seem to be more about rhetoric than about actually protecting anything.
