Treating Viewers As Criminals

from the this-sounds-familiar dept

I guess today is “entertainment industry treating users as criminals” day here on Techdirt. MIT’s Tech Review has an article that pretty much combines the points of the two posts made earlier today about the entertainment industry treating viewers as criminals. The article makes a similar argument to the “how to stop digital piracy” one by saying that instead of trying to give consumers what they want, the entertainment industry has started a “scorched earth” war against its own users. Such policies are only likely to destroy the current entertainment industry players themselves.
