Hey, Get Off My Back
That’s what Andrew Seybold would like to tell Wall Street on behalf of the wireless industry. In his latest Commentary 4Mobility column, Seybold points out that we live in an increasingly wireless world, yet Wall Street seems to think the US wireless industry is near death. There are two culprits as work here. First the Wall Street analysts are too focused on quarterly performance and not focused enough on the big picture. Second, the industry itself isn’t doing much to paint a compelling vision of the future. I tend to agree on both counts. Especially when it comes to carriers not being innovative enough in their marketing and product development. But to give them some credit, I think we’ll see some very interestng services coming out over the next 12 months. Getting the pricing right, well, that’s a whole other issue.
