Ballmer's Microsoft

from the not-your-Gates'-Microsoft-anymore dept

It’s been a while, now, since Bill Gates officially hadned over the controls of Microsoft to Steve Ballmer and Business Week takes a look at how the shift has worked, and what’s new at Steve Ballmer’s Microsoft. First off, the transition wasn’t as smooth as everyone hoped it would be. Gates had difficulty letting go, and the two of them fought often (though, apparently, that’s nothing new). However, after a year or so, it’s settled down. The biggest issue has been for Ballmer to calm his micromanaging tendencies down, and to help with that he’s trying to install a number of strict processes into how Microsoft does business. Some wonder if those policies will hurt Microsoft more than help, but many admit that something needed to be done.
