Stuck Between Spam Abusers And Accusers

from the not-fun dept

Twice in the past few years I’ve been randomly accused of sending spam (both times via a SpamCop report). Both times, I had no recourse through SpamCop, and I had to spend time explaining to my ISP where the mistake was made. I’m a big fan of the concept of SpamCop and people I know who use it, love it – but what do you do if (even when you’re violently anti-spam) people accidentally accuse you of being a spammer anyway? Meanwhile, the real spammers continue sending out all sorts of junk email to waste everyone’s time. The article also mentions a recent spam operation that got shut down – who had a number of extraordinarily expensive luxury cars seized as part of the process. Who the hell actually gives these people money?
