Creative Commons Launching

from the start-sharing dept

We’ve spoken about the Creative Commons project before, and today Larry Lessig is finally going to officially launch this clearinghouse of content. I’m going to his presentation today about it, and will try to report back with some notes on what happened. If the wireless internet access at the O’Reilly Conference is working (it’s been on again/off again), I’ll try to post it during his talk. What will be interesting is to see how the entertainment industry responds. Despite all the information that’s come out in the past few months about this project, they haven’t had much to say so far. Update: Saw the original presentation. Lessig is speaking right now. It’s not actually launching for a few months. The big question right now, though, that people had was how do you prevent people from putting other people’s works into the public domain?
