Bluetooth to be worth US$2.7 by 2006
In-Stat/MDR predicts that despite Bluetooth’s slow start, Bluetooth chip sales will grow at a brisk 132% five-year compound annual growth rate through 2006. The growth will be fueled by the sale of Bluetooth headsets and PDAs. In general we’re fans of Bluetooth, but the kinks are still being worked based on our experience. To meet these optimistic growth rates a number of elements have to come together. Headsets need to have good sound and strong standby and talk times. PDA use will be driven by ease of syncing and the robustness of data networks available via Bluetooth equipped cell phones.
