With the average celluar subscriber getting a new phone every 18 months old mobile phones get thrown in the trash. These trashed phones could be a real enviromental threat according to a new study. The study makes a number of suggestions on how to deal with the problem, including that US carriers adopt one single network standard so that users can keep their phone when they switch carriers, apparently a big reason for new phones.
