Tech Salaries Dropping, But Hiring Managers Predict Worker Shortage

from the everyone's-an-optimist dept

It’s really not surprising to find that compensation for people in the tech industry is dropping. While base salary is often staying the same, bonuses and other additional forms or compensation are falling off. At the same time, some companies are asking workers to take a pay cut – and people looking for work are more than willing to accept lower paying jobs than they were used to. Interestingly, here’s another article saying that hiring managers for tech jobs expect there to be more jobs available than qualified people to fill them this year. However, before you get too excited, the same study predicted the same thing last year. It seems the hiring managers are overly optimistic about how their own company will do, and what that will mean for employment needs.
