Getting Closer To Flexible Displays

from the paint-me-an-LCD dept

Researchers at Philips have apparently figured out how to paint an LCD screen onto a surface. Right now they’ve only done it on glass, but they believe it will be possible to do it on any surface. So, in theory, you could have an LCD screen on your shirt. Or your wall. Or your windshield, or just about anything. The article mentions a foldable piece of plastic, so you could have a foldout monitor when needed. I keep hearing about similar inventions, so I’ll remain skeptical until someone hands me a foldable screen to play with, but it’s good to see that lots of companies are working on this technology.
