Handset Sales Flat
According to research group IMS global handset sales have been flat since 2000 due to slower subscriber growth, lowering subsidies, and the lack of compelling applications for new networks. But sales should pick up by 2006 and hit 600 million handsets globally. It’s important to recognize that in addition to the general malaise in the wireless industry, these last two years have be transitionary years as more emphasis has been placed on data networks and devices.
