Can't Trust Anything You Read Online

from the watch-out dept

Just a reminder that, even when it comes from a major news source, you can’t trust what you read online. Some surfers this weekend came across a “hidden” obituary of Ronald Reagan that was posted to the Scripps Howard News Service, so they could be ready when he eventually does die. What’s even more amusing is that it was found by Google, which cached it and lead to its discovery. Meanwhile, someone snuck a press release through to a major European wire service saying that Walter Hewlett had been renominated to the HP board, which is not true. So, once again, this is a Techdirt public service announcement reminding you to trust no one.
