Gates Testifies
from the ongoing-coverage dept
The story of the day appears to be Bill Gates on the stand. Like all of the witnesses, he had to submit his testimony in a written document, and takes the stand only for cross examination. Every news site is covering the story, so I’ll just link to a few. This one covers the basics of what Gates says, which is basically complying with what the states want would seriously harm Microsoft and might even be impossible. He makes no mention, though, of how Microsoft’s monopoly moves seriously harmed plenty of other companies. Here’s another article that points out that Gates carefully avoids talking about last year’s settlement, which Microsoft’s lawyers hope will mean that he can’t be cross-examined on the topic.
