In the wake of the Enron/Global Crossing mess, suddenly every company wants to build their accounting credibility. Companies are (as they should) saying that their auditors can no longer do any additional consulting work as well, in order to avoid conflicts of interest. Plus, there’s a renewed interest in hiring PR firms to make companies look better. Maybe companies should have been focusing on doing their accounting right in the first place…
