Dot Com Super Bowl Ads Did Nothing Special For Traffic

from the oh-well dept

Wasn’t the whole point of having a Super Bowl ad for a dot com to drive traffic to that site? Well, it sounds like it didn’t really work for most sites. The exception was (unfortunately) mLife, who drew the most traffic following their ad (though, hopefully from people who wanted to yell at AT&T Wireless for being really really lame). HotJobs, Monster.com, and E*Trade all saw their traffic go down on Sunday, as compared to the day before the Super Bowl.

This was an awful article. Web-site traffic always goes down on a Sunday, particularly when there’s something happening that day. And besides, this was the best Super Bowl in years – who’s going to see an advert at half-time and then rush off as soon as the field goal is kicked to go and surf to the web-site? The question to ask is what were traffic levels on Monday?
