Internet Used As A Greeting Card After Sept. 11
from the how-did-you-use-it? dept
Most people who turned to the internet on September 11th, used it to communicate with friends, colleagues, and relatives, expressing concern after the events of the day. Not that many people used email or the web to gather information on the day of the attacks – as most people turned to television instead. This, despite all the talk about how the internet was the best place to find info that day. In my case, I think I was so numb that I was better off just watching television. I did surf around the internet a bit looking for info, but spent most of the day just sitting and watching TV and trying to understand.

I live across the river from Manhattan, in Hoboken NJ. I have cable internet access: my phones (mobile and landline) were not working all day, but my cable of course still worked, so was able to email and IM people (friends/relatives) during the day.
