Tech Companies And Business Magazines – An Uneasy Relationship

from the editorial-integrity? dept

If you thought the Time Magazine/iMac cover story arrangement was problematic, then you should realize that there are all sorts of questionable situations between tech companies and the business magazines that cover them. Both PeopleSoft and Sun have threatened to pull ads from Forbes and Fortune for writing negative articles (PeopleSoft for the PeopleShell article we posted). At the same time Forbes is getting yelled at for what looks like a bad arrangement with Siebel to put them on the cover with a glowing story, and “accidentally” include a Siebel ad next to the table of contents. It seems that editorial integrity at major magazines and thin-skinned tech companies don’t work well together.
