AIMSearch Prank Going Away
from the bye-bye dept
In a very funny hoax, someone set up a site that pretends to be Google, and lets you search for any AIM conversation log between two users. You just put in two user AIM IDs and you can read their chats. They page about the site says they got it through the Freedom of Information Act. Google is not at all happy about being associated with this joke and have already forced the site to change the logo so that it says Googol, instead. And, apparently, the site will go away by the 14th thanks to legal pressure from Google. It’s damn funny, so you should try to check it out before it goes away. To read any AIM conversation between any two users go directly to the site.

Awesome!
Awesome. Too bad they were stupid enough to do a “fake” google… they should have changed it enough to be noticeable different. I guess they can always just repeat under better cover.
I didn’t realize I had said all those things… no more drunken stupor AIM sessions for me!

No Subject Given
appears that they have taken down the real chat logs. checking on my chats, the returned text is nothing i would ever type.
too bad i missed the fun.
Re: No Subject Given
Hmmm, did it ever show the real logs? I just sort of assumed it was always just a fun, made up spoof. Granted I am totally ignorant about the freedom of information act, but I’d hate to think that all my AIM logs were publicly available.
Gee, now I’m confused!

Heh. Um, I believe they were always fake logs… I think that was the point of it being a hoax…
