AdCritic Shuts Down
from the but...-but...-where-will-I-get-to-see-the-Superbowl-commercials? dept
We’ve discussed adcritic here before. It was definitely one of the more useful sites out there, but the big question was always whether or not they could ever find a business model. It turns out, in the end, they couldn’t figure out any business model, and so they’re out of money. No matter what business model they worked out, it would have been difficult, because the more people who use their site, the higher their costs go, since streaming video takes up so much bandwidth. It’s too bad they couldn’t come up with something valuable, though.

Kontiki or one of those other p2p distro platforms
They should have tried Kontiki or one of those other p2p media distribution platforms that let the cost curve scale more gracefully with the number of users…

It’s really sad because I had emailed them a proposal for an “AD Critic” Video show that would have been able to receive sponsorship and make money for their site. This proposal was sent to them over six months ago. I never heard one response from them and I also called and left several messages. Oh well… The answers were right in front of them and they didn’t realize it.
Re: Proposal
Hi,
I was wondering if you could send me the proposal because I’m looking to launch a site like AdCritic.com and Ads.com.
