How To Get OS X For A Lot Less (And Why Apple Is Pissed Off)

from the pretty-royally--screwed dept

It turns out that it’s pretty easy to take the $20 Mac OS X upgrade and turn it into the full version (normally priced at $130). There’s a legitimate reason for doing so – as it fixes some techical problems some people were having with the upgrade. However, it also doesn’t make Apple particularly happy, and so they’ve sent their lawyers screaming and yelling after the folks who released the info. Of course, this being the internet, nothing that’s been released can get back into the bottle. So, as one lawyer states in his “professional” opinion, Apple is “pretty royally screwed” on this one.
