AOL Has To Stop Shipping AOL

from the a-world-without-AOL-CDs dept

AOL has been told they need to stop shipping AOL 6.0, and might have to stop the new 7.0 as well. It seems that PlayMedia has won the first round of their lawsuit against AOL, saying that AOL has illegally included their software in their AOL Media Player. PlayMedia is the company that sued Nullsoft, the makers of WinAmp for illegally using their software as well. When AOL bought Nullsoft, they figured they could now use the software also. However, PlayMedia says they can only ship as part of WinAmp, and not AOL Media Player.
