Remember when every VC would talk about the importance of “first mover advantage”. Turns out all that stuff is a myth – though most of us realize that now (in hindsight). Most successful companies are latecomers to their market, but they take over by focusing on a few key factors. The article summarizes what these factors are, but it’s really just the opening chapter of the book, Will & Vision: How Latecomers Grow to Dominate Markets written by some folks who generally seem to know what they’re talking about.
