Stop Looking For The Next Big Thing

from the it's-all-small-things dept

A column suggesting that people looking for “the next big thing” in technology should give it up. Most of the last two decades advancements in technology have been dominated by a large number of “small things”, and no really “next big thing”. I think the point he’s trying to make is that by looking for “the next big thing” you’re likely to overlook the small changes that are really going to have an impact on the technology world. I also tend to have a problem with anyone who is predicting “the next big thing”, because as soon as you hear someone say it, you know they have some sort of stake in it, and are trying to sell you on it.
