Bucking The Software Store Trend

from the doing-just-fine-on-our-own dept

It was just on Monday that we were talking about the failure of specialty (bricks-and-mortar) stores that focus only on software. I remembered thinking that it was odd that Electronics Boutique wasn’t mentioned in the story – but I figured that maybe they were “too small” a chain to get mentioned. I was wrong. The reason they didn’t get mentioned is that they’re actually doing quite well. It apparently comes down (as always) to execution. EB has focused in on the needs of gamers, and made sure to meet them. Not everyone believes that they’ll be able to keep up the strong showing, but so far, it appears they’ve been able to keep going while all their competitors are selling out or collapsing.
