US SMS Incrsng

from the what-vowels dept

It looks like Americans are finally getting interested in SMS text messaging on mobile phones. While the rest of the world sends 750 million SMS messages a day, we’re still figuring it out what SMS is. But SMS can only take off in the US when two things happen. First, carriers need to make their SMS systems interoperable so AT&T subs can SMS Verizon subs and vice-versa. Second, we need new, well designed, 2-way SMS capable phones. People won’t use SMS if they need to use a WAP browser to send and receive messages.
