What's So Special About Alpiri?

from the someone-help-me-out dept

Okay, I know that there’s someone out there who understands this one better than I do. Red Herring has an article about Alpiri who claims they are using XML to network names. Someone needs to work on their marketing, because that means absolutely nothing to me. The application they go on to describe sound suspiciously like just about any other price comparison engine – except that this one requires a constantly updated knowledge base of product names and info. If this is just a better price comparison engine, they should just say so. At least the founders admit they’re not yet sure if there’s a business there – and won’t take any VC money until they’re sure there is something there to build a business around. I respect that.
