Cell Phones Banned On Election Day In Bangladesh

from the seems-a-bit-extreme dept

Not sure what to make of this one. Bangladesh is banning the use of cell phones during their election day, this coming Monday. The country’s mobile carriers will all shut down their networks for the day. The reasoning is that there is a ton of expected violence, and without cell phones, the organizers of riots won’t be able to organize as well – or be warned when the police are coming to crack down.
