Justice Department Backing Down On Microsoft Case

from the break-up?--we-don't-need-a-break-up dept

Well, well. Looks like all the lobbying has paid off for Microsoft. The Justice Department today announced officially that it’s okay to just slap Microsoft on the wrists, say “bad Microsoft!” and let them go on doing whatever it is that they do. They’ve decided that they don’t want to pursue a breakup of Microsoft and also they no longer think that Microsoft illegally tied IE to Windows. I thought that’s what half the case was about? Doesn’t it seem a little odd that they’re backing out of half of the case before the new judge has even gotten involved?
