How Much Would You Pay For Priceline.com?
from the up-for-sale dept
While we’re on the topic of randomly interesting merger potential, here’s an article that looks at Priceline.com as an acquisition target. It has a strong brand name, the stock is fairly cheap, it offers a unique product, it did surprisingly well last quarter, and there have been a lot of mergers in the online travel space. Seems like the perfect target for a company looking to expand their offerings. Of course, on the downside, it’s still pretty expensive, the business model is still somewhat unproven, and it’s facing more competition from sites like HotWire (which seems to offer a similar, but much better version of the service).

The stock is cheap? think again. dont consider a low share price w/o the context of the number of outstanding shares. PCLN still has a marketcap of over 1 billion dollars. It’s hardly cheap.
