Is Blogdex Really That Useful?

from the or-is-it-just-a-lowest-common-denominator-for-the-web? dept

There were a ton of articles about Blogdex when it launched, but I never thought it was that useful. Now, here’s an article suggesting that Blogdex may act as an “early warning system” about hot trends on the internet. The theory being that bloggers pick up on what’s hot before the mainstream press do. While that might be true of some pop-cultural things, I haven’t found Blogdex to be that useful to me, at all. It mostly seems to point to things of passing interest, rather than anything substantial.
