California CIO Who Made Oracle Deal Used To Work For Oracle

from the hmm... dept

Last week we posted how California gave a huge contract to Oracle without letting other companies bid. The San Jose Mercury News keeps investigating the story and now they find out that California’s CIO, who made the deal, used to work for Oracle, but had not disclosed that fact – even when he applied for the job of state CIO. I’m a bit torn about this. It seems pretty clear that he had no financial interest in this move – he only worked there for a couple of months four years ago. However, it still doesn’t mean he could skip over all the official procedures.
