Non-Google Search Engines

from the there-are-a-few dept

I remember a few years back when everyone said you’d be crazy to launch another search engine, because between AltaVista, Inktomi, and Lycos the market was full. Then along came Google. Now, a bunch of other search engine companies are trying to take on Google. The Register lists a few that they found to work well. I ran a few test searches on each one, and found that none of them return as accurate results as Google does (except, of course, for the one built on Google), but some of them do look to be worth watching as they improve.
