The Database And The Joke

from the welcome-to-the-web dept

An odd article that I’m not sure I completely understand. I think he’s trying to say that the internet is more than just a database because you can also find more interesting and enlightening stuff than simply what you were looking for. However, maybe I’m missing the whole point of the article. He says that information is either a database or a joke. Databases being the information that is organized and what you’re looking for, while “jokes” are any other information that goes beyond what you were expecting or looking for. The thing that makes the internet interesting, he claims, is that it’s not just a big database, but is full of jokes as well. Like his article, I would guess.
