Internet Access Doesn't Mean The End To Authoritarian Rule

It turns out that if you happen to be a dictator of a country, you shouldn’t worry so much about the internet. A new study shows that, while there are a number of different approaches that can be used to block “harmful” sites from citizens – the internet has done little to stir political unrest in totalitarian countries. I think the study is a little confusing, though, because what if various sites or access to the internet wasn’t blocked at all? Would the results still be the same? I’m not sure the premise (which really is only stated in the headline) can really be concluded from the evidence.
