Ricochet: Getting Better, But Running Out Of Money
from the too-little-too-late? dept
I’ve talked about Ricochet many times in the past. It’s basically been my lifeline to the internet for the past two years, and the thought of them going out of business scares me because there really is no good alternative to what they provide. I’ll admit that the service had been sketchy for a while, but following on numerous phone calls and emails discussing the problems, everything’s been working great for the last few months (except for last Friday when, get this, they claim the network got struck by lightning). Anyway, now that others are agreeing that Ricochet is finally reliable, they’ve decided to finally to listen to what I’d been telling them for over a year and offer cheaper service and pitch it as an alternative to DSL – without the installation hassle and with mobile access. Of course, they’re still running out of cash fast. Hopefully, they’ll hire someone who actually knows how to market their service and some bigger company (do you hear me Worldcom?) will see it as a cheap way to buy up a lot of very cool infrastructure.

Did I read that figure in the article correctly?
Yikes! I really hope Ricochet doesn’t die. It’s a great service…
