Meet The (Sorta) Geek

from the that-doesn't-sound-right dept

In a study that I think needs a little work, The Industry Standard has tried to define what a geek is and what he or she likes, based on a survey. Of course, their definition of a “technology enthusiast” was someone who owns a computer, surfs the internet, and owns at least two “gadgets”. I know plenty of people who fit into that category (in fact, almost everyone I know fits into that category) who are most certainly not technology enthusiasts. So, you can still read their “profile of a technology enthusiast”, but I think the fact that only half actually surf the web for fun gives you an idea of how accurate the portrayal is.
