Failure To Prosecute Teens For Website Is A Victory For Free Speech

from the so-they-say dept

An interesting article in the NY Times (watch out, or that free registration will get you), about the decision in NY not to prosecute two kids who created a website naming girls in their high school class, and certain facts about their “sexual exploits”. The article goes into a pretty detailed explanation of the legal issues involved in “aggravated harassment”, and compared that to the issues of free speech involved in the case. Definitely some interesting points about free speech and where it crosses over into harassment.
