Where's HAL?

I don’t really play a lot of video games, but I recognize their importance. Video games are are the ‘killer app’ for artificial intelligence (AI). Maybe that’s a bit overstated, but I can’t think of a more popular application of AI. If you’ve got an mp3 player, I highly recommend this talk given at the 2001 Game Developers Conference. You can also read the transcript, but I don’t think it quite captures Marvin Minsky‘s idiosyncrasies. I particularly like his criticisms of genetic algorithms….
