San Franciscans Still Optimistic – Says Visiting New Yorker

from the thanks-for-the-update dept

A reporter from New York is apparently surprised to find out that folks involved in the San Francisco internet world are still optimistic. She’s a bit cynical and thinks they’re clinging on to something long after it’s gone – but admits that maybe they have the right attitude. I still think that any of the extreme positions have been crazy. The internet was going to change everything and make us all rich at the same time. Yeah, sure, whatever. However, the idea that the “internet is over” and dot coms are a joke is a bit of an exaggeration as well. One of these days we’ll realize there’s a happy medium and everyone will move on to focus on some other overhyped subject.
