May The Best Interface Win
from the gushing-over-Amazon dept
Well, here’s the second story of the week from a well known tech writer gushing over the Amazon.com user interface. Did Amazon send out some sort of letter to big name tech writers? (If you don’t read Techdirt regularly – and why not? – the first story was from Salon on Tuesday). Anyway, this one has some amusing quotes from a different company that sets up e-commerce stores (the writer was comparing them to Amazon). When asked about some bad interface designs, the company’s VP of information systems is proud that they’ve designed a bad interface. His explanation is that they explain on the site how to use it – so rather than cater to what users want, they enforce their own (easier to program) usability.
