E-Commerce Industry Can Learn A Lot From Amazon
from the it's-true dept
It’s apparently time to gush about Amazon.com. Salon has an article that basically talks about how cool Amazon.com actually is as an online store. Forget all the hype and the question of profitability, and just look at how the site works. I have to admit that I agree. Despite everything that’s going on in the e-commerce world around it, Amazon continues to add incredibly useful features quietly and efficiently. They make the online shopping experience so much better than any other site I can think of. Between the user reviews, the personalization, and the recommended products, Amazon.com has become a very useful site – beyond just for buying books and music. Other e-commerce sites (should they survive) should look more closely at all the features Amazon has added (that is, assuming, they don’t patent them first – but that’s a different issue). Of course, knowing Salon’s current situation maybe they’re just trying to build up new interest in web based companies that can’t figure out how to make a profit – but still do some cool things.
