Broadband's Coming Attractions
from the what-to-do-with-broadband dept
A good article over at MIT’s Technology Review about the overhyped broadband revolution. For years people had been talking about how broadband would change the way content and entertainment came to our computers. The reality is a bit different – and the article looks at what’s working (short films and animations) and what hasn’t been working (lots of other stuff). It also points out that there isn’t much in the way of economies of scale for broadband entertainment – since the more people who come to view it, the higher the costs. Of course, they also point out that in the end, the successful broadband entertainment content is probably going to be something that no one’s thought of yet.
