If you’ve ever had anything to do with IPOs you probably know about the practice of tie-ins, flipping, and other questionably legal (and questionably ethical) practices related to such things. Red Herring is running a multi-part series to dig deep into the dirty underworld of what happens behind the scenes of an IPO between banks and institutional investors. The first part is about tie-ins. Nothing particularly new or shocking, but if you’re curious about what happens, it’s a fairly accurate picture of how some of the wheeling and dealing works.
