Wireless Networks For Everyone

from the just-walk-around dept

This isn’t much of a suprise at all. I’ve known a number of people who have “accidentally” connected to some corporate wireless networks. Now it seems that some people have gone around San Francisco and found a bunch of the open wireless networks. This is good if you want to be able to figure out where you can connect from. However, it’s bad if you’re a company that has created a wireless network and didn’t think far enough into the security such that anyone in the right place with a wireless ethernet card suddenly has complete access to your intranet. I would think some of these corporate espionage places would be going around and stealing as much info as they possibly could (actually, that might be a fun job).
