Online Checkups In Cambodia

from the visit-the-doctor-around-the-world dept

An interesting story about doctors in Boston who are helping to diagnose patients in poor areas around the world. A nurse armed with a laptop will go to remote, poor places like Cambodia, and ask lots of questions which are then emailed (along with pictures) to doctors in the US who do their best to diagnose the problems. It’s one of the real potential benefits of “telemedicine”. The problem is that it’s still very difficult to do much when it’s not face to face.
