Digital Angel Or Big Brother In Disguise?

from the who-needs-privacy-when-you've-got-a-cool-gadget dept

A company is about to release its “Digital Angel” transceiver gadget. The product is a little wireless device that uses GPS for location and CDPD to transmit data. It can be used for many different purposes, such as finding lost animals or tracking packages. The scarier applications, though, come from its ability to track humans as well. The company claims that it’s only for use voluntarily by humans. They say it can be useful to transmit medical information. For things like that, though, I’m not sure the GPS stuff is necessary – except in an absolute emergency.
